I am a lifelong resident of Elk River. My father, Tom Zerwas, was the Police Chief in Elk River from 1980-2003. I was born with a congenital heart defect, and my parents were told I would not live past 7 years old.
I have a had a total of 10 open heart surgeries, the last surgery was 7 years ago. While I have been told 6 different times that I have less than 6 months left to live, through the power of prayers and the advancements in medicine I am now feeling great!
I graduated from Hamline University in 2003, with a degree in Biology and Forensic Science. I worked as a latent print examiner for the Anoka County Crime Lab, and for Target Corporation’s private forensic lab. While working for Target I earned my MBA. I am married to Bette and we are expecting our first child!
I served on the Elk River City Council for 6 years. My priorities on the council have been to improve efficiency, downsize government, and lower our city property tax levy.
I am currently serving in my second term in the MN House. I serve on the Health and Human Service Finance Committee, Health and Human Service Policy Committee, the Civil Law Committee, and the the Public Safety Committee.
Over the last four years I have worked tirelessly to represent Big Lake, Big Lake Township, Elk River, and Otsego at the Capitol in St. Paul. It has been an absolute honor to go to work every day on behalf of the people that elected me. Thank you for electing me to serve you, and I humbly ask for your support again this November.
With your help we can maintain control of the Minnesota House of Representatives and bring some balance back to St. Paul. We have seen what total Democrat control looks like in St. Paul. Minnesotan’s can’t afford the extreme agenda of the Democrats in St. Paul. Help me win in November, so we can stop the spending spree in St. Paul, help make Minnesota competitive with our neighbors, and begin to reign in the tax increases imposed by Gov. Mark Dayton and the Democrats in St. Paul.
Thanks again for your continued support!
On The Issues
Taxes
I do not support raising taxes. I fully believe government has a spending problem and not a revenue problem. Government must act like Minnesotan families and live within its means.
Pro-Life
I believe that life begins at conception and ends at natural death.
2nd Amendment Rights
Coming from a law enforcement family I strongly believe in our 2nd Amendment right to keep & bear arms.
Size of Government
Government at all levels has grown and interjected itself too deeply in our lives. I strongly believe government is not the answer. The government just simply cannot be all things to all people.
Transportation
Funding for roads and bridges benefit the most people and our funding priorities need to reflect that.
